Gearbox - Gearbox V. 3.70 Original Names Patch V. 1.0... 24-02-2009
![]()
This
program will patch the amp and stompbox names of GearBox V. 3.70 and is
available as a free download. This means that the initial Gearbox
code is not being changed. This patchprogram is V. 1.01. It will change
the names of amps and stompboxes to the originals that they where
modeled after and displayed in the different menus.
By running the program again you can restore the names to the Line 6 names. Your firmware is not being modified. Thanks go out to R. Rachmaninoff for taking the time for making this patch available through Vettaville.nl. It has been tested on GearBox 3.70 ONLY. In addition, and not fully tested, here's a possible workaround for Vista X64 machines. You need to run gbpx.exe as a administrator for it to work. (Thanks Locran). Changes: Feb 16, 2009 - v1.01 + Fixed "incorrect files" bug. + Stompbox names also replaced. Feb 4, 2009 - v1.00 + Initial release. Click here to download Ampnames patchprogram V 1.01 Please note: This software has not been developed by Line 6. It is not sanctioned by Line 6. This software is distributed as freeware. Gearbox - Gearbox V. 3.70 now available... 07-11-2008
Line 6 released a new version of Gearbox. Version V. 3.70.
This version of GearBox adds support for GX, UX1, UX2 and POD X3 Pro. We recommend this version of GearBox for use with POD Farm 1.0. This single installer includes a complete software package for GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt and POD X3 devices. It includes the GearBox application (v3.70), device drivers (v3.4.2.9) for all supported devices, the Line 6 Monkey intelligent updater (v1.26) and Control Panel (v3.47). See the GearBox manuals page for step-by-step installation instructions and detailed setup info for use with many recording applications. Full release notes are available here. For owners of eligible Line 6 hardware—other than TonePort DI Silver or Gold Plug-in Bundle or TonePort UX8—plug-in processing requires the purchase and activation of a license from the Line 6 Online Store. Click here to download the new Gearbox V. 3.70. Please note: You need to be logged into the Line 6 site to be able to download. From the release notes: What's New?
- This version of GearBox software adds support for GX, UX1, UX2 and POD X3 Pro. What's fixed? -Playing audio from GearBox player using a TonePort UX8 causes full system hang on some systems. Known Issues: - Master and Record section controls of GearBox app stay active in Tuner mode. They will have no audible effect in Tuner mode, but the application will re-sync all parameters when exiting Tuner mode. - Gearbox will not always save the correct amp model and/or settings when transferring to an X3 unit. The work-around at this point is to edit a parameter (i.e. move the volume knob up and then back to the original position), and then the tone will store/transfer correctly. - Changing Variax models during ‘Tone Transfer’ with GearBox can cause MIDI device timeout error- please allow Tone Transfer to complete before changing Variax models. - GearBox vocal presets default POD X3 input to guitar instead of mic due to them being created prior to POD X3 hardware - the input can be changed once the tone is loaded. - GearBox application does not prompt save on application exit - users must remember to save changed tones before exiting the application. - GearBox application defaults to Variax Electric panel. If an acoustic or bass is connected, please select the proper Variax type manually to sync software to the attached Variax. - Rapid switching of Variax via 5 way selector switch on the guitar can cause the application to fall out of sync with the currently selected Variax model. - Tones can get out of sync between POD X3 and Gearbox when doing special case tone selection. This includes tone swap, Lock Tone loading, and choosing to only load Tone 1 or Tone 2 of a patch from the X3 hardware. Please use the GearBox software to choose tones, or double click a different tone in the editor to resync the app and hardware. Mac® OS X Exclusive Issues - Typing in GuitarPort Online text fields causes system alert sounds. - Player cannot open mono audio files. - Drive knob redraw in GearBox can be sluggish when controlling Drive from X3 hardware. Turning the knob in GearBox software does not result in sluggish response, only from hardware . Source: Line 6 / vettaville.nl |

Gearbox - Gearbox for POD X3 delayed II... 01-03-2008
Line 6 were able to release V. 1.11.0 of the POD X3 firmware today. This update addresses a number of issues as well as implements new behind the scenes features required for GearBox support. Because much of the editor has to be developed in serial with those changes- the GearBox editor is not yet ready for public release. Line 6 is doing everything they can to close up the last remaining issues as quickly as possible. The bottom line is that they don’t want to release this until they are confident that it is going to supply the best customer experience possible. Please watch the announcements here for a more comprehensive release date in the next few weeks.

Gearbox - Gearbox for POD X3 delayed... 12-01-2008

Gearbox - Plug-In vs Hardware, Digital vs Analog... 10-10-2006
The DI-Gold and DI-Silver are both the same TonePort DI, the included models are the only difference (so there is no digital out connection). Users of the PODxt, XTLive, UX2, UX1, KB37, and GuitarPort will be able to purchase the VST plugin upgrade and activate their gear to make use of the plugins.
In addition...the PodXT, UX2, and VST plugins all sound virtually identical, but since the VST plugs are software, and are therefore purely digital, there is a slight sonic advantage to using the VST plugs in favor of recording from the hardware outputs of the other gear. Gearbox - Input source menu... 08-11-2005
The input source menu in GearBox is different depending on whether a UX1 / UX2 is connected. There's no "Mic & Mic" option with UX1 because it only has one Mic input. The input options are as follows (this is not in the order they appear in the application):
Each source has the same amp & cab (or preamp) and effect path with a stereo output to your recording app. Taken to the extreme, this means you can use a mic pre to record bass (a common practice) and a guitar amp for vocals (if you want that kind of effect). The only "dual source" inputs that have two completely separate simultaneous processing paths are the last three items in the list - noted by the "&." The items noted "stereo" give you stereo in and out, but are linked with only one set of controls. Probably the best way to record guitar and bass simultaneously is to use the instrument in for guitar and use a direct box to plug the bass into a Mic input. Source: Line 6 / vettaville.nl |
Gearbox - Tonedirect / Toneport and Latency... 03-11-2005
ToneDirect™ monitoring, gives you fully processed audio in real time while you track! Better than recording through plug-ins, it avoids the latency from your recording program and operating system. ToneDirect™ also easily beats analog direct monitoring options that force you to record guitar without hearing the amp model and effects, or struggle to get an inspired vocal with no reverb! Using the analog outs from the UX will add latency to your system. The whole concept of ToneDirect™ is that it does the modeling at the driver level to reduce latency to the absolute minimum. Try running small buffer sizes and make sure that you are monitoring through the UX1 and not using the software monitoring feature of your program like Cubase for instance. Line 6's driver latency is extremely low if you use the ToneDirect™ monitoring. Host latency for software monitoring is always an issue. Source: Line 6 / vettaville.nl |
