Getting into cycles Q from an attendee to the meeting. Funny thing that you mentioned 60 cycles (Hz) but over here in Europe we have 50 cycles (Hz) Steve; immediately reacts, yes and our British models have 50 Hertz, all the Marshall, all the Voxes. This is because this is occurring in the digital domain. We’re not actually taking line hum and modulating the tones. In the digital domain we’re creating a signal that is 60 Hertz. For the British models we change it to the British mode to 50 Hertz.
Suits are Scary Darrell; What we’re trying to communicate is that we operate more like a bunch of players than a bunch of corporate suits, if you will. Actually, there are no suits (laughter). One little story about that: Marcus (Ryle) our founder, one day showed up in a suit and we where very WORRIED. (laughter again) Steve; It was Halloween, and everyone comes in, in costumes. Lot’s of the costumes of people coming in have, body parts hanging out, blood splatters, and axes in them. Then the founder comes in, dressed in a suit and a tie everybody went, EEEEEHHHUU and scraping their throats, it’s just not a good thing, but it just happens…
Egineering Musicians Darrell; Our whole sound design department is made up of music producers, musicians and players. We’re not operating as electrical engineers. We represent you the player in the development of tone at Line 6 – that brings balance to an more engineering, scientific approach. Line 6 in a very unique way, we adapted the engineering process because we wanted players, musicians involved right in the part of this interactive engineering. Right to the last minute, to insure that Tone, the Feel, all of the stuff is right for guitar players.
Obviously, that’s an involving thing, technology and all the stuff. We’re constantly striving to improve the experience - and may want to talk to you about that later. But I wanted to share with you the mission of our sound design crew and that’s just a group of guys, just like Steve explained earlier, that work with the product managers, to understand the requirements, that work with engineers, work with the gear, to get everything together, etc.. We’re craftsmen. And what we are hoping to do is to bring analog mojo - what’s brilliant about all that vintage gear - into our digital world.
The Digital World is inavertable We believe that the digital world is inavertable. It’s all going there, if we like it or not. We just want to be sure that the analog love, and all the things that are brilliant and broken about great vintage gear is conserved and brought forward into the future with us. In addition we kind of want to be your guitar tech. We want to offer you the service of great tone in the studio or on stage. If we can do it, maybe we replace a whole lot of gear with a single box if it’s gets you most of the way there. That’s kind of what we are about as a sound design crew and really what drives the tone of Line 6 products.
