Version 2.1 is a maintenance release with updates and changes that improve
device support, registration, graphics, plug-in support and RiffLink
online collaboration. With RiffLink's improvements, guitar players are

Version 2.1 is a maintenance release with updates and changes that improve device support, registration, graphics, plug-in support and RiffLink online collaboration. RiffWorks Standard users can simply launch RiffWorks now to automatically receive an update alert dialog prompting the RiffWorks Standard V2.1 download. In addition to GuitarPorts and PODxt's, it will work with TonePorts. It includes all the main features as RiffWorks Standard, the same number of free drummers, and the same 60 day free trial of RiffLink. The difference between the two versions is RiffWorks Line 6 Edition will work seamlessly with compatible Line 6 devices only (GuitarPort, PodXT, PodXT Live, PodXT Pro, and now TonePort UX1 and UX2), while RiffWorks Standard will work with all ASIO and Core Audio devices (including the Line 6 devices listed above). The new version of RiffWorks uses GearBox instead of GuitarPort. It will also work with a PODxt with no other software working. It works as a standalone application running alongside GearBox. If you use RiffWorks with a PODxt device, you don't have to use GearBox. The new version is Mac/PC compatible (different installers) and works with TonePort devices in addition to GuitarPorts and PODxt devices. Rifftracker License Key... 11-11-04
The RiffWorks license is keyed to the hardware, but will be transferable between supported hardware (GuitarPort, PODxt, XT Pro, XT Live). Why are the advantages of doing this type of hardware keyed license? Like with GuitarPort, it means you can install the software on as many computers as you want (at home, at a friend's house, at the office) and you will always have your assets (Model Packs, drummers, etc.) available, not matter which computer you connect to, because they're tied to your individual hardware, not restricted to a single computer. This means that you can start work on a song in one place, take the files to another and you'll have the same capabilities available, even if your friend didn't purchase the same packs or drummers. RiffWorks licenses will be transferable from one unit to another via Monkey in the same way that Model Packs will be (the programming elves are hard at work on getting that implemented and tested even as we speak). for: FYI: RiffWorks is the software. RiffTracker is the retail bundle of a GuitarPort and RiffWorks. You can download it for free and use it in demo mode, but purchasing the app adds the ability to record and mix.
Go get it!!! It's true that running GuitarPort software with a PODxt requires less RAM than with GuitarPort hardware because GuitarPort does the signal processing in the computer and PODxt does it in the hardware. However, most of that 384 memory requirement (512 recommended) is the result of the RiffWorks app itself - not the GuitarPort component. I can't quantify that difference offhand, but I can definitely tell you that the whole system is much happier when you've got RAM to spare. You are welcome to try it out and see what happens, but if you have less than the minimum recommendation, we can't offer support if you do run into performance problems. SOURCE: LinE 6 |
