Variax 500 - Behind the Hardware Video... 03-07-06

Variax piezo saddles video

Variax 500 behind the harware video

First information is not a transplant, it's a definitive "behind-the-hardware" video of the first Variax guitar, the Variax 500. It's beautifull presented movie where you just sit back and see all details. A perfect way to start these pages with.

Nathan Shane: Here's my first new Variax 500 video for all you fellow tech-heads. This is a definitive "behind-the-hardware" video which I put together to help everyone see exactly how the Variax Piezo Bridge & Saddles are put together The video is a little over 8 minutes running time, and 15MB. I suggest that everyone right-click and "save-target-as" to download to your hard drive for viewing rather than streaming off the internet. ENJOY...!!!

Chrome / Mirror Finished Ibanez Variax... 03-07-06

variax conversions

Here's John Symonds's endproduct of a transplant of the guts of Variax 500 into a Ibanez JEM style guitar.

He bought a neck, a custom made body, some other small bits and put them together. He got the idea from his bassplayer in his band who has a chrome finish bass (GB rumour 5 string and green leds on the neck). He referred him to the one who did the chrome finish and leds in the UK and decided to use his services.

John discussed his options with the shop owner, bought a neck (RG570), bought a custom made body and some bits and put it together. The body of the Variax 500 was scanned and he made the body look like JEM body with the Variax cut-outs. The body was chrome finished and they also fitted a grophtec nut to it and that was sent back to John. John inserted the Variax electronics to the guitar and finished it. Just see what it looks like!

White Strat & Pickups Variax... 05-07-06

variax conversions

Here's Marcos Kleine's White Strat Model Variax guitar.

Marcos Kleine is a professional musician in Brazil. He made a transplant with the help of a Brazillian luthier named "N Zaganin". The White Strat has Sperzel Locking Tuners and 3 Dimarzio Virtual Vintage pickups. The "Cedro Rose" wood is used for the body and it's somewhat similiar to rosewood. It has a maple neck and the fretboard is made out of Brazililian "JACARANDÁ" wood.

When Marcos and Zaganin talked about this project, Marcos would like to have even more options then Variax already offers. So he opted to have real pickups in there aswell. In the pictures you may notice a switch, similar of the old Fender Jeff Beck models, placed next to the Variax Tone and Selector knob.

This enables Marcos to change from all Variax models to the strat. The default is Variax but when he presses the button it changes to the "real" strat and real pickups. The Variax inputjack works, in this case, fine for both systems.

The other jack, the standard stratocaster jack, works only for the strat. There's a small benefit here, when Marcos wnats to use his guitar and there's no power (batteries or power from footswitch) he still can use his guitar whenever he feels like it. He just runs his strat in the 'oldfashioned' way.

Marcos Kleine can be reached through his website at the link beneath.

Stratovariax1 - From start To Strat - A Complete Process... 07-07-06

variax conversions

We informed you that we'd provide you with lot's of information. We'll we're trying to keep our promise... Here's the first project that has been documented from start to Strat to finish. Roosevelt Walker Jr. presents his StratoVariax1. On his website you can follow the complete proces. Here at Vettaville we give you a first quick look on Roosevelt's project.

He started by picking the right wood, using a Stratocaster for the right dimensions, remove the electronics from the Variax 700, sanding every piece, covering it with different kinds and layers of paint. Transplanting the electronics, routing the cabling, making adjustments, having fun and creating a one of kind red ('corvette') Stratovariax.

The plan for this first build was to be fairly strait forward. Since it was Roosevelt's first build he was purposely not going to throw all the bells and whistles at this guitar. he just wanted to get some of the basics of building a solid body down. As he doing more builds, each one will encompass a few new processes that he didn't attempt previously. This variax will be a tremolo strat body style with 5A quiltedmaple top, mahogony back, burnt orange / black burst color, maple on maple neckmatching head stock, sperzel tuners and nitro-cellulose clear coats.

We'll be covering more from Roosevelt in the future, since he's making different guitars using Variax technology in them. All be announced at the latest news page as always. You can use Roosevelt's website to reach him if you would have questions about his projects. be reached through his website at the link beneath.
