Please note: that all information content in these pages is information from and for creative fellow guitarists. It's not a guideline on how to do-it-yourself however it can help to uderstand the complete process and helpfull insight. In most cases there's a link to pages outside Vettaville.nl where you sometimes can interact with the owners of the displayed guitar.

Variax 700 PicturePaint and all parts Neck... 23-12-06

variax conversions

After some unusual conversions, we've added something different. Here's a normal Variax 700 that has recieved a Neck conversion. The standard neck was taken off and replaced by an all parts neck. The creativity here lies in the way it's been 'painted' on headstock and body. This Variax conversion belongs to Ron Huisen. One of Line 6's the most creative product specialists. If you say Line 6 in Europe the embodyment is Ron Huisen. Whenever you're around him you'll get that special vibe through his knowledge and abillity to inform guitarists in a pleasent way.

The complete Variax 700 has been stripped and sanded through a secret procedure, only known by Ron Huisen himself. After that Ron took many different pictures of magazined and used them on this guitar. The result is a one of kind guitar that even has (virtual) pickups. So the beholder is also 'fooled' here, since it's an optical illusion, it's just pictures again...

DB Dino Strat Conversion ... 16-01-07

variax conversions

Dino Bizovitis joined in to share his photo's and info on his latest Strat conversion Project. For his conversion he used the Variax 700's electronics in conjunction with the EMG SL20 Steve Lukather's active pups set. Here's his info on what's being adjusted and why. Making it special for his needs.

The second TONE knob is the Vax's model selector. It doesn't click in to the position 'cause I wanted to retain the classic Strat design and I'm not using it a lot anyway. The first one (TONE knob) is the Variax volume. It has to be noticed though, that TONE controls for both systems have been dispensed with, as well as the VDI...

There is one common output..As far the power supply concern, I have split the pwr off between the two systems, using a 9 DC V battery for the EMG's and the external power supply, to power up the Variax. Installing a 9 pin special 1/4 stereo output jack have both the pwr supply for the Variax and a battery switch for the EMG'S available in one jack.

The mini toggle switches between Vax and active pups. The concept of this build was that I would be able to use this guitar as a normal guitar, NOT to depend on the Vax's power supply. The Variax circuit is an extra, secondary feature that makes this instrument flexible. I don't really need the Digital output, having stored my main patches in the two user banks available...

I've got the Digital output connection cable under the back cover plate though, handy for future updates...It has to be said that this instrument sounds superb and is TOTALLY NOISELESS ( !!!!) due to both active systems!
