How to define a sound in words, I think it’s rather impossible to describe how something sounds that way. We all have different hearing, we have different playing techniques, we like different tones. It’s a very nice decade that we live in since we, as musicians, have more options then ever before to choose from. As you can imagine it’s too short a time to get to know this amp and give a full review.

I’ll spend more time with it because this Spider Valve has 12 different amp models to get acquainted to, this is not your average 2 channel amplifier, it’s more like a 12 channel amp, with all different characters that go from clean to rage, each in their own way on almost each model. Sure you can hear the Fender, Vox, Marshall, Mesa Boogie heritage where the amp models are based on but also have their own unique sound.

Judgment day
The amp as a whole is very dynamic and responsive with a rich harmonics and feel. It’s well build and has it’s own character, here in Holland a Spider Valve will drain € 699,- from the bank account. So far I didn’t come across a 40 Watt Valve amp with such a variety of sounds ease of use and tonal quality. To me Line 6 sets a new standard in the price versus quality ratio this Spider Valve amp.

So there’s more to come and I’ll gather my further impressions. So far I’ll say this is a very, very nice amp with minor onboard chorus, flanger, phaser effects. Maybe I’m spoiled with my Vetta where I can tweak almost every parameter..

It’s freaking loud, has it’s own amp models with different tone colors and interactions of the tone controls. But maybe most of all, this amp sings and breathes the passion for music. The best advice is I can give you is your own judgment..
